Abstract: In the years prior to the late 1950s, the accuracy of liquid meters had been determined by the use of volumetric tanks, a time consuming method fraught with elements of human error as well as one involving large and costly equipment. The use of these tanks played an important part in restricting the growth and development of the state of the art of metering high volume liquid streams.
