Abstract: A meter prover is used to calibrate meters to establish a meter factor. The volume that passes through the meter is compared to a known volume between detector switch that is displaced either by a sphere or a piston from the time that the first detector switch is activated until the second detector switch is activated. This volume between the detector switches is determined by a calibration procedure known as the Water Draw method. The detector switches are a very important part of establishing a meter factor.
