Abstract: In the present work, a method for calibrating hot-wire anemometers for low-speed measurements is described. After a brief recall of the working principle of the instrument, the problems connected with the measurement of low-speed flows are described. A method for overcoming these problems is proposed, and the special features of the specific calibration are discussed. Two different mathematical treatments of the calibration data are analyzed and compared. Finally, some test measurements are presented, showing that the results are in line with the expectations.
