Abstract: The CSIRO gamma-ray multiphase flow meter (MFM) determines the flow rates of oil, water and gas in pipelines from oil wells. The MFM consists of two specialised gamma-ray transmission gauges, and pressure and temperature sensors, which are mounted on a pipe carrying the full flow of the well stream, and processing electronics which are located in a control room.
