Abstract: The measurement and control of vapour pressure is important in the storage and transport of crude oil. However, vapour pressure measurement and its relevance are often a cause of confusion. This paper will provide a definition of what vapour pressure is, why it is important and discuss terms such as Reid Vapour Pressure, True Vapour Pressure and the ASTM vapour pressure test methods.
