Abstract: The commercial value of the uncertainties caused by poor sampling has never been more evident originally developed in the 1980s the API, IP/EI and ISO standards are under review. The philosophy and techniques for sampling hydrocarbons needs to change to correlate poorly understood best practices developed between users and vendors with practical reality.
