Abstract: Department of Engineering Science Coriolis Mass Flow Metering Most flow meters measure volumetric flow (for example 2000 barrels /day) Coriolis meters measure mass flow (for example 20 tonnes/day) Mass is more useful than volume in many applications (for example petrochemical) Coriolis meters are accurate (0.1%) compared with many other types of flow meter. Coriolis meters have two parts - The flow tube, a mechanical device, through which the fluid flows - The transmitter, an electronic device, which makes the flowtube vibrate, and which does the flow calculation
