Abstract: Quality wind measurements are critical in evaluating wind turbine power performance, wind energy site assessments, and wind plant operations monitoring. To acquire the necessary precision and to lower the uncertainty in the field measured wind data, it is recommended that calibrated anemometers be deployed on meteorological towers. Calibration of an anemometer relates the raw output from the anemometer under test to a corresponding measure of a controlled reference wind speed in a wind tunnel. In the wind power industry, the most commonly referred standard is IEC 61400-12-1: Wind Turbines
