Abstract: This paper reviews the various factors which were considered in revising the seismic design criteria contained in the National Fire Protection Association Standard on Liquefied Natural Gas (NFPA 59A). In addition, the paper discusses the methods currently utilized in determining and designing for the potential earthquakes which could affect a particular site. The rationale and opinions presented are those of the authors only and should not be interpreted as representing the views of the NFPA 59A Committee.
