Abstract: 1 Introduction The present comparative performance evaluation has been conducted for the following reasons. 1.1 Two-wire vs. four-wire systems In the chemical, petrochemical and various other industries, the two-wire system is used as the standard infrastructure for field instruments (other than analysers). This means that instrument signals are transmitted and power is supplied through the same two wires.
