Title: Thermal Energy Measurements

Abstract: A dekatherm is one million BTUs. The dekatherm is often replacing the cubic foot as a unit for measuring gas. This change from volume to energy allows fair exchange, since the value of gas is the amount of heat energy which it will produce. Of course, gas can be exchanged fairly using the cubic foot, if every cubic foot is alike. That is, if every cubic foot will produce the same amount of heat. New sources of gas are being used which are not alike.
