Abstract: The title, Electrical Hazards in Gas Distribution Systems, encompasses a very large subject. Perhaps we should tirst define the subject and the world hazard, The dictionary suggests hazard is risk or danger. Therefore, an electrical hazard involves risk or danger of spark or shock due to the gas piping becoming unintentionally energized. The results of unintentional electrical energizing of gas piping may result in injury. death, or damage to property. In preparing this paper, a literary search indicated that considerable attention has been given the subject in the area of high voltage transmission power lines, and very little attention to distribution system problems.
