Abstract: The feasibility of using multiple gamma-ray beams to identify the cross sectional flow pattern has been demonstrated for three phase gas/ oil/ water pipe flow. A fan beam collimated 241Am source with principal emission at 59.5 keV is used because this relatively low energy enables efficient collimation and thereby shaping of the beams, as well as compact detectors. Results from a flow loop experiment using a system two transmission detectors and two scatter detectors are presented. The scatter response from the fluid is used to compensate for changes in salinity of the water component.
