Abstract: THE PRESSURE REDUCING REGULATOR IN FIG 1 IS THE BASIC DEVICE USED TO REDUCE THE PRESSURE FROM A HIGH PRESSURE SOURCE SUCH AS A TRANSMISSION LINE TO A LOWER PRESSURE SUCH AS A TRANSMISSION LINE TO A LOWER PRESSURE SUCH AS A DISTRIBUTION PIPING SYSTEM. THE REGULATOR HAS A HISTORY OF VERY RELIABLE SERVICE, BUT BECAUSE IT IS MECHANICAL IT CAN FAIL.
