Abstract: Whenever we refer to an automatic tank level gauge, we in the hydrocarbon Indus try are norma 11y referring to a device which will give an indication of level on the ground next to the tank without walk ing to the top of the tank to drop a hand line into the product. When these types of gauges were developed, they were indeed automa tic and provided a tremendous savings in 1abor for tank gauging. However, the technology has progressed significantly since the development of these devices.
