Abstract: The purchase, installation and repair of meters are a significant part of a gas companys operating costs. The overall accuracy of a companys meter population has a direct affect on revenues. Managing the meter population more efficiently through meter sampling and efficient meter repair is essential for company to be a top performer. Many states now permit some form of meter sampling program in place of the traditional periodic meter removal programs of the past. This paper will cover different methods of meter sampling and meter management that can be used within the constraints of state regulations.
