Abstract: That first CEESI ultrasonic meter event addressed only ultrason ic meters, but was truly groundbreaking in that there were so few rules in pla ce and no anti-trust requirements or other restrictions - it was pretty much a free for-all but very valuable. It was designed for wi de-open communication with no strings attached. There were only nine gas companies attending (Williams, Norther n Border, Gulf South, Calpine, Enron, SoCal, Duke, Kinder Morgan, and Nor thern Indiana Public Service Co.) and only thr ee vendors (FMC, Instromet, and Daniel).
