Abstract: The orifice meter is a precision measuring instrument that is accepted as such by both buyer and seller of gas and many liquid products. Many dollars are exchanged each month in accordance with the records that are made and permanently recorded on orifice meter charts. Orifice meter measurement is desirable because of the wide range of pressure and volume of products to be measured, however, more than just the meter itself is used in orifice meter measurement, There is also the meter run and the orifice plate, each having a most important place in the measurement installation. Standards and specifications for the installation of these three, components - orifice plate, the meter and the meter run - are listed in the American Gas Association Gas Measurement Committee Report No. 3.
