Abstract: A method for making dimensional measurements of screw thread geometry using laser triangulation technology is described. The introduction of this type of technology for dimensional measurements of threads creates a need for evolution in the dimensional standards for thread form. An assessment is given of the advancements in measurement methods for screw thread geometry which can be expected to enter the market over the next several years.
