Abstract: The following report outlines the tests which were conducted to assess the suitability of a commercially available top pan electronic balance for use with an automatic weight exchanging mechanism. The conceptual design, manufacture and testing of the weight exchanger are described and the current performance of the system discussed. Suggestions are made for future work on the balance with a view to further improving its performance.
