Abstract: The term specific gravity was replaced by the term relative density by the American Gas Association in 1985. By definition, the term is dimensionless, although it is normally referred to in specific gravity units CSGU. This paper uses the outdated term specific gravity as it is currently better recognized by gas industry personnel.
