Abstract: Earthquakes can pose a problem to gas facilities in many parts of the United States. Planning for underground storage projects should include an analysis of active-deformation potential within the reservoir as well as that from nearby active faults. This permits probabilistic estimates of the potential for ground failure and ground shaking and engineering design solutions to reduce the risk.
