Abstract: Over the last decade a number of changes have oc-.. cured in the gas industry. The introduction of the microprocessor chip has spawned a new generation of equipment for the measurement and control of natural gas. The cost of gas to the distribution companies and to the consumer have risen dramatically. Gas companies are more concerned about the heating value (BTU) of the gas they are buying and selling, and the large consumers of natural gas are increasingly aware of the need for energy management.
