Abstract: The U.S. Public Law 94-168 (the Metric Conversion Act of 1975) declares the adoption of the International System of Units (SI) for measurement to be the national policy of the United States. Many segments of the U.S. economy either have or are in the process of conversion. Making a change in something as fundamental as the measurement system requires a great deal of investigation by all who might be affected by the change. This is but a brief look at the current state of metrication in the U.S., including a discussion of the more important metric units that gas control people will be using in the daily operations of the not too distant future.
