Abstract: There are many design considerations associated with the development of systems that can measure gas flow and transfer the data to a central location. A systems perspective is required when considering the use of electronic gas measurement to satisfy the business and operational challenges that are present in todays gas industry. It is essential to understand the functions of individual components and how they will become integrated into a complete, networked system. Financial tools are often used to evaluate different component selections. As well, a proposed analysis can be utilized by designers to approximate the uncertainty associated with any measurement system.
