Abstract: Conservation of energy has become an economic necessity. Virtually all of us have personally felt the effect of rapidly increasing energy costs in the form of unusually high utility bills and gasoline prices. However, it is not widely recognized that the effect on the natural gas industry itself has been equally dramatic. Compressor fuel costs have soared, placing renewed emphasis on overall station efficiency. This paper represents a summary of the effect of higher fuel costs on compressor station design and operating philosophies.
