Abstract: It Is an obvious fact that all methods employed in the analysis of a mixed gas stream are, of necessity, based on the physical or chemical properties of the component gases-and by the same token, for each physical or chemical property of a gas there exists, in theory at least, an analytical method. The limitations in most cases lie in our inability to measure the property chosen as the analytical basis, or its change. A few of the obvious properties are molecular weight, molecular configuration, thermal conductivity, boiling point, solubility, molecular cracking pattern, heat of combustion, chemical reaction, etc.
