Abstract: I n the l a s t few years s i g n i f i c a n t technol o g i c a l improvements have occurred in the basic mechanical design of l i q u i d flowmeter provers and i n the e l e c t r o n i c p r o c e s s i n g and data r e d u c t i o n of parameters associated with the proving o p e r a t i o n. Microprocessor-based proving c o m p u t e r s / c o n t r o l l e rs a r e now a v a i l a b l e . These smart boxes are capa b l e of working with conventional provers as well as the new breed of small volume flowmeter p r o v e r s.
