Abstract: Flow conditioning is one of the tools that measurement engineers have to improve its flow measurement data in order to, on one hand, comply regulatory standards and, on the other, guarantee that economical transactions are clear and transparent without doubts for both parties: seller and buyer. Latest developments in numerical simulation (CFD) using commercial and friendly software permits intermediate and end users to determine which would be the most adequate conditioner available to correct unfavorable conditions, for flow measurement purposes. Besides, due simulation is not sufficient to determine the characteristics of flow conditioners, validation in a Secondary Flow Laboratory need to be carried out as well. This verification is made comparing metering responses from a given meter against a master meter, in several scenarios, where different pipe configurations.
