Abstract: Philadelphia Electric Company, located in southeastern Pennsylvania, and its subsidiary, Conowingo Power Company, located in northeast Maryland, provide service to approximately 1.4 million Electric customers and 311,000 Gas customers. In 1979, a major undertaking was embarked upon to automate many of the manual tasks performed in providing service to our customers. A Project Team was formed, with representatives from four departments Electric T&D and Gas Operations provided the experience of field personnel and ihe Gas Operations provided the experience of field personnel and dispatchers. The knowledge of Call-taking, Accounting, and Business Services came from Commercial Operations, and Finance and Accounting supplied Ihe Programmers and Analysts. The development was based on a User design concept -have the people that use the system design the system.
