Abstract: Three test methods and equipment were developed for the rapid evaluation of fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) pipeline coatings. The tests provide for measurement of the adhesive bond strength of the FBE coating to the pipe surface, determination of the porosity (void content) of the coating created by gas entrapment, and estimation of the degree of reaction of the applied coating. In addition, a facile sampling technique was developed for readily removing intact free-standing coating samples from freshly coated pipe.
