Abstract: FOR MANY YEARS, NOISE WAS CONSIDERED A NECESSARY EVIL IN HEAVY INDUSTRY, IN THE OIL PATCH, AND ON HIGH PRESSURE GAS TRANSMISSION LINES. THIS CERTAINLY IS NOT THE CASE TODAY. INDUSTRY IS FINDING MORE AND MORE SOLUTIONS TO THESE NOISE PROBLEMS. THE PUBLIC AND THE WORK FORCE ARE AWARE THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH UNSAFE OR UNDESIRABLE CONDITIONS. GOVERNMENT BODIES PASS NEW REGULATIONS EVERY DAY WHICH PROTECT THE RIGHTS AND HEALTH OF THE PUBLIC.
