Abstract: The methods of analysis for the various constituents of natural and synthetically-produced fuel gases are discussed. Such constituents include hydrocarbons, inert components, sulfur compounds, odorants and water vapor. Some important factors in obtaining representative gas samples and the types of sample containers required for certain types of analyses are examined. Also discussed are gas blends for analytical instrument calibrations, and the interpretation of the results of a gas analysis.
