Abstract: In discussing the principles and performance of orifice meters, perhaps we should define what an orifice meter consists of. An orifice meter is a collection of devices used for measuring the flow of fluids in terms of the differential pressure produced across a restriction in the flowing path. Basic components of an orifice meter which will be discussed in this paper are 1. The orifice or restriction 2. The meter tube or run 3. The interconnecting gauge lines 4. The differential pressure gauge 5. The static pressure gatige 6. The temperature gauge. 7. An integrating device
