Abstract: Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) units are designed to provide unattended custody transfer of liquid hydrocarbons from a lease site to a transporting carrier, usually a pipeline company. Because it is a custody transfer, the unit must provide accurate information on both the quality and quantity of the commodity that is changing ownership. For this reason, the proper design, operation and maintenance of these units is of great concern to all parties involved.
