Title: Flame Propagation And Explosion Proof Electrical Equipment
Author: T. E. Jacobs
Source: American Gas Association 1970
Year Published: 1970
Abstract: In 1937, the Bureau of Mines engineers in Dallas. Texas, developed equipment for reproducing, on a laboratory-scale, actual fires and explosions which have occurred in the mineral and allied industries. Up to this time, few people had ever seen how a fiame travels through a sewer or pipe, how pressures build up as that flame travels, or how pressure can cause piping to rupture and sewer manhole covers to be blown off.
