Abstract: Measurement systems are usually specified with a performance target which details the total acceptable measurement uncertainty to be associated with the measured product. The tool we employ to examine the performance of a measurement system is the uncertainty analysis. The measurement system uncertainty analysis is achieved by the development of an uncertainty budget which identifies, documents and combines the contribution of each device and algorithm proposed for use as in the design of the measurement system.
