Abstract: Three primary sources of error in crude oil measurement include: 1. Volume Measurement 2. Sediment and Water (S&W) 3. Tenperature This paper is confined to the discussion of techniques for temperature compensat ion of gross measured volumes of crude oil on Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (L.A.C.T.) units, truck and p i p e l i n e A.C.T. u n i t s . The main o b j e c t i v e is to review the fundamentals involved in tenperature canpensation and develop an understanding of the comnonly used devices for this purpose. Evaluation c r i t e r i a will be addressed, with etiphasis on application factors.
