Abstract: An overview of performance requirements for copper twisted pair cabling per US and international standards is provided. This type of cabling is predominant in commercial buildings and is used for high speed data communication, such as IEEE 802.3 ethernet. The measurement challenges that are present for high speed performance measurements are identified.
