Abstract: A method has been developed to perform in-situ checks on flow metering equipment for fiscal metering purposes in natural gas. This method has large advantages as compared to traditional methods of checking flow metering equipment. Traditionally, the performance of flow meters is checked after build-out and transport to a calibration facility where they are calibrated against the high-pressure natural gas flow standards. This procedure is costly and does not always give the desired results, in particular in cases where upstream conditions like swirl or pulsations influence the meter reading.
