Abstract: The natural gas industry has undergone radical transformations as a result of FERC Orders 280, 436, 500, 528 and, most recently, 636. Revisions to regulatory requirements that cause the natural gas and electricity markets to be increasingly more competitive, emphasis on environmental and pipeline safety issues, expansion into international markets, and increasingly sophisticated information technologies are constant drivers, forcing the industry to reinvent itself.
