Abstract: The MOPICO is an oil free, variable speed, gas cooled motor driven, series-parallel, centrifugal pipeline compressor with its rotor suspended in levitation by magnetic bearings. This paper deals with the unique installation requirements necessitated by the variable speed drive and magnetic bearing features. Specific references are made to the prototype installation at a pipeline compressor station in Alabama.
