Abstract: How good is the measurement you are making and is the measurement as good as the measurement you made yesterday, a week ago, or even a year ago. We will review the selection of test instruments and why an instruments accuracy, repeatability, operating temperature and traceability is important to the ultimate goal of a good measurement. Next we will look at the measurement process and what relevant factors influence the collection of data for measurement assurance. Finally, we will review both National and International Standards for maintaining instrument traceability and the requirements for maintaining documented traceability.
