Abstract: Natural gas producers, gathers, treaters, processors, transporters, and distributors are all exposed to the potential safety hazards and costs associated with lost and unaccounted for gas. Safety hazards include leaks and theft, and costs may be incurred due to incorrectly measured gas or line pack. Costs can also be associated with imbalances or contractual caps. Common acronyms representing lost and unaccounted for gas are as follows: LAUF Lost And Unaccounted For LAU Lost And Unaccounted for L&U Lost & Unaccounted for L&U will be the acronym used for reference throughout this paper.
