Abstract: The testing and maintenance of meters is one of the most important functions in the gas industry since the revenue which a company receives is based on the accurace with which the gas is measured. This accuracy is of particular importance in large meters where any error involves a large amount of revenue. On the other hand, the maintenance program is an operating cost which represents an expenditure from this revenue. Because of these factors it is important that the maintenance program be designed to give the utmost in accuracy at the lowest practical cost. With this in mind, the maintenance program which our company has established is based on the following factors: A. basis for scheduling meter tests. B. Sizing of meters to prevent excessive wear. C. Design of meter installations to facilitate field testing and maintenance. D. Test methods and equipment. E. Reports and records. F. Transportation G. Trained personnel.
