Title: Development Of Coupons For Monitoring Cathodic Protection Systems

Abstract: Over the past ten years, several studies have been performed that examined the use of off-potential measurements for evaluating the effectiveness of the CP system. These studies have shown several conditions for which conventional off-potential measurements on pipelines are either inaccurate or difficult to apply. The most notable of these conditions are areas of stray current interference or areas in which all of the CP current can not be interrupted. These studies have prompted interest in other monitoring techniques. The use of coupons buried near the pipe surface for the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness of a cathodic protection system is one such technique.
