Abstract: DEREGULATION OF THE NATURAL GAS INDUSTRY AND FERC ORDER 636 HAS RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANTCHANGES TO INDUSTRY OPERATIONS. INCREASED EMPHASIS IS GIVEN TO THE TIMEL AND EXACT TRACKING OF NATURAL GAS AS IT MOVES THROUGH THE GATHERING, TRANSMISSION, AND DISTRIBUTION SYSEM. IMPROVED MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY IS NECESSARY FOR ACCURATELY AND COST-EFFECTIVELY CARRYING OUT THIS MONITORING PROCESS.
