Abstract: Many exciting changes are taking place in the tire industry with rapid growth in the types of tires available for the vehicles you use and in the way in which you use them. To understand the new developments in the tire industry you first must have in your mind the three basic types of tires being offered today and the differences between them. The first type of tire is the bias ply construction. This is the type of tire that has been the main-stay of the tire industry for many years. This construction uses alternating angled layers of fabric braced in opposite directions to give the tire its shape and strength. At least two plies arc necessary to form the body of the tire. Various fabrics. such as rayon, nylon, polyester, fiberglass. and wire are all possible materials that could be used in a bias ply tire.
