Title: Why Is Measurement Of Water In Hydrocarbons So Difficult?

Abstract: Measuring water percentage in the oilfield incorporated various methods over the past 40 years ranging from Mason Jars, automated sampling systems, manual sampling to online real time measurement. Many issues remain when investigating validation of measurements in both high water and heavy oil production. Facilities today handle vastly increased ranges of density and types of crude oil complicating already difficult measurement. Many oilfields produce on the average of three barrels of water for each barrel of oil.
