Abstract: Since 1963, Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company has served gas to 4,125 mobile home units in 68 different parks. Before discussing the mobile home it would be well to clarify the picture by defining the terms used. The Mobile Homes Manufacturers Association offers the following definitions: A mobile home is a portable unit designed and built to be towed on its own chassis, comprised of frame and wheels, connected to utilities, and designed without a permanent foundation for year-round living. A mobile module is a factory-fabricated, transportable building unit designed to be incorporated at a building site into a structure to be used for residential, commercial, educational or industrial purposes. A sectional home consists of two or more units factory-fabricated and transported to the home site where they are put on a permanent foundation and joined to make a single house.
